Biographical Summary of Board Nominees for the 2017 - 2020 Term
MG Ret Bill Farmen is a former TC officer whose career included CONUS and overseas assignments in command and staff positions. Bill retired in 1996 and resumed a career as a consultant with international clients. He spent over 20 years as a Senior Fellow with LMI Government Consulting. MG Farmen has been affiliated with the Foundation for several years and is a current member of the Board of Directors.
CW2 Ret Joseph Hammonds – CW2 (R) Hammonds served for 25 years in the United States Army in various positions including Combat Medic, Combat Engineer, Mechanical Engineer and Marine Engineer. Joseph retired as a Marine Engineer at Fort Eustis, VA in 1998. CW2(R) is currently the owner of a small business “Joe-Fix-It Handyman Service, LLC” in Newport News serving the greater Hampton Roads community.
BG Ret John Levasseur is a retired Army Reserve Officer with numerous Army career branches. His last assignment was at Defense Logistics Agency in 2004 serving as Director of the CENTCOM Deployment & Distribution Operations Center (CDDOC). He also retired in 2005 from AT&T. Post those retirements he worked for IBM, KBR, and Grom Associates in the DOD sector. He currently serves on as a Director on several charity and non-profit boards including the ATMF Board for the past 4 years.
MG Ret Aaron Lilley has been a member of the ATMF since the mid 1970's. Retiring from active duty in November 1985, his last duty assignment was as the CG of Fort Eustis and the Chief of Army Transportation. General Lilley has served on the ATMF Board of Directors for a number of years, remaining very active in Foundation matters in retirement. He has witnessed the Museum grow from a few artifacts in a warehouse to the great museum we enjoy today. He wants to actively remain in the improvement and expansion of the museum by continuing to serve on the Board.
MAJ Ret Michael Meneghini - MAJ (R) Meneghini served as a Reserve Officer in the Transportation Corps until he retired in July 2004. Michael served as a Senior Operations Research Analyst in various positions within the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command Transportation Engineering Agency until 2007. Since 2007, Michael has served as a Science & Technology Senior Military Analyst in Army Capabilities and Integration Center, Ft. Eustis, VA with responsibilities centered on improving the capabilities of the Army through more focused research investments, better operational processes, and earlier more comprehensive Soldier involvement with the materiel developers.
LTC Ret Mark Metz - LTC (R) Metz is a retired USAR officer who held various motor transport, water terminal and traffic management positions during his reserve career prior to his retirement in 1995. His outside career included various domestic and international water terminal operations, traffic management and motor carrier positions with commercial industry. He then entered civil serve as a strategic planner with the Surface Deployment and Distribution Command until his retirement in 2006. LTC Metz has been affiliated with the Foundation since 2007 and currently serves as head of the Rail Committee.
CSM Ret Ruth Potter - CSM (R) Potter served for 28 years in the United States Army beginning with her enlistment in September 1988 as a Motor Transport Operator. She served in various leadership positions as a Noncommissioned Officer from Squad Leader through Command Sergeant Major. Ruth earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in International Business from Trident University in Cypress, CA. Retiring from active duty in November 2006, CSM (R) Potter continues her volunteer work with homeless shelters and local area food banks in the Tidewater area.
COL Ret John Race is a retired transportation officer with experience in all modes of transportation. He retired in 2002. His last duty assignment was as Chief of Staff of Ft. Eustis. He then entered civil service and held positions in logistics and transportation before retiring in 2014. COL Race has been affiliated with the Foundation for a number of years and is currently serving as the Foundation President.
